Bonderite M-NT 40042 (was Bonderite CC 42) is a zirconium based pre-treatment chemical conversion coating for steel, galvanised steel and aluminium, and can also be used as a one-step cleaner/coater, by adding the surfactant product Bonderite C-AD 0508. Bonderite M-NT 40042 is compatible with all types of paint. Bonderite M-NT 40042 is used as a pre-painting treatment for automotive industry parts, appliances, metal furniture, and plated items prior to painting – where there is exposure to corrosive agents, moisture, etc. This product is free of volatile organic constituents and toxic heavy-metals, and as a treatment on metal under paint it will increase corrosion resistance significantly. This can be equal to/better than an iron phosphate with a non-chrome rinse. Application can be by spray or immersion, with no heating of the bath being necessary when a separate cleaning process is done prior to treatment. However, when used as a cleaner/coater, heating of the bath will be required.
