Henkel’s Bonderite C-AK 207 C (was Novatech 207C) is a liquid additive, which when added to caustic soda solutions will provide a long-life etching solution with performance equivalent to Bonderite C-AK 207. It produces a grey/matt architectural finish, on a wide range of aluminium alloys. The long-life properties of Bonderite C-AK 207 C allow the etch bath to be operated for longer periods without the need for sumping, whilst maintaining a consistent etch finish. It effectively sequesters dissolved aluminium thus eliminating the problem of sludging which is normally associated with other long-life etch processes. The robust long-life additive system incorporated in Bonderite C-AK 207 C negates the effects of rogue alloys on aluminiums subsequent processes. The low etch rate produces the desired matt finish with minimal metal removal. The successful running of a long-life etch solution will vary from operation to operation depending on workload, size of process tanks, type of alloy, condition of aluminium surface and etch finish required.
