Protect your components from corrosion during transport and storage by using Mykal Aquasolv (Aqua VCI) corrosion inhibitor. This environmentally-friendly product is a substitute for sodium nitrite-based alternatives. Mykal Aquasolv corrosion inhibitor is added to rinse water for either spray or immersion rinse during cleaning, and provides long term protection against moisture and humidity for ferrous components. Protection may last up to six months, depending on storage conditions, and post-treatment processes such as brazing, bonding, and painting are not affected. The molecular layer of VCI protection is invisible and non-tacky, and does not affect adhesion. Aquasolv Aqua VCI contains no nitrites or phosphates. It is non-combustible, non-hazardous to the environment, and non bio-accumulating. It is part of the Mykal range of industrial cleaning and degreasing products, manufactured to the highest standards by Mykal Industries. APPLICATION For best results, dilute Aqua VCI corrosion inhibitor in demineralised water at a concentration of 2-4%. Apply by immersion or spray for 30-60 seconds at a temperature between 50C and 60C. Take care to ensure that all surfaces are treated. Allow the component to cool to ambient temperature and leave to dry before enclosing in plastic, to prevent condensation which could damage the protective qualities of the VCI layer. |

Mykal’s Aquasolv Spray Wash Cleaner (Aqua 10) is an environmentally-friendly metal cleaning product used for spray wash processes. Added in highly-diluted form to spray water for high-pressure washing of components or assemblies, it removes oil, grease, and swarf and leaves behind no stains or streak marks. It offers the additional benefit of corrosion protection through the use of vapour corrosion inhibitors (VCIs). Aquasolv Aqua 10 is classified as presenting no health or environmental hazard under current legislation. Supplied as a colourless liquid, it has a mild odour and low toxicity. It is fully water-soluble, non-bioaccumulating, and is not toxic to fish. Aqua 10 contains no nitrites, phosphates, or silicates, has a mildly alkaline pH, and is safer to use than caustic materials. It is also non-hazardous for waste disposal. The product gives excellent cleaning performance, and is often used on cast iron and steel components in manufacturing operations. It is equally suitable for use during assembly, pre-painting, interstage cleaning, and refurbishment. Typical dilutions are 2-5%, making for an economical and effective cleaning solution, while concentration levels can be increased to 10% to shift heavy soiling. Application temperatures will depend on the conditions, and are typically just 40-70C. Aquasolv is a highly-concentrated, low-alkaline, non hazardous cleaner incorporating vapour corrosion inhibitors to protect ferrous components. Hubbard-Hall’s Black Magic Infusion Powder gives a performance and quality black finish to a wide range of steel, being specifically formulated to minimise the common problem of red iron oxide adherence. The infusion – a solution of oxidising salts – is a free-flowing, dust-free granular mixture, used at a low temperature (138-141C), for blackening a wide range of carbon, alloy, and hardened tool, steels. However, for easily blackened stainless steel or cast iron applications, Hubbard-Hall’s Black Magic SS formulation is recommended. With its unique blend of activators, rectifiers, catalysts and surface-active agents, Black Magic Infusion Powder, produces the darkest black available, as well as providing the user with reduced immersion time without sacrificing quality. To obtain the best possible results, a properly maintained and controlled approach should be adopted when using Black Magic Infusion. Automating the water supply and maintaining temperature with an automatic controller is highly recommended, to ensure a consistent, uniform and high-quality black finish. Details of automated temperature controllers and water inlet valves for immersion tanks are available upon request. Finally, unlike other conventional formulations, the unique make-up of the infusion eliminates the necessity for frequent sludge cleaning. |

Hubbard-Hall’s Black Magic RT S 30 is a liquid concentrate solution, which has been formulated for blackening powdered metal and steel, by immersion. It is very effective, with minimal smut generation on porous powdered or sintered metal and stampings, as well as machined, ground, spring, hardened and polished steel and high silicon alloys. The liquid is diluted with water (one part to nine parts water), within a temperature range of 21-32C, and activation works effectively with Black Magic Predip P solution, which may also be used as an activator for difficult-to-blacken passive steel surfaces, or as a conditioner to enhance the evenness of colour between machined and un-machined areas. Black Magic RT S 30 is mildly acidic, therefore all health and safety guidelines on usage should be followed. The solution complies with RoHS and REACH. |

The room temperature blackening process offers energy savings and convenience over hot black oxide. The liquid concentrate is diluted to 25% by volume with water by slowly adding it to the water, while stirring, to avoid splattering and splashing. The diluted solution requires immersion times of 30 seconds to 2 minutes, and plastic tanks, tumbling barrels, racks, hooks or baskets can be used. |

Hubbard-Hall’s Black Magic SS-C is a free-flowing, dust-free granular composition for use in water, giving a deep black colour to cast and sheet stainless steel. Black Magic SS-C oxidising salts are used as a super-saturated solution, effective in a temperature range of between 121-127C. Because it is important to maintain temperature to ensure a uniform and high quality finish, an automatic temperature controller should be utilised in the process. To achieve the required finish, surface preparation is most important. If a superior quality of finish is required, then Activated Black Magic Plus is recommended. Tanks should be constructed of mild steel, with acid pickling tanks of plastic, rubber-lined steel or rigid polypropylene. Henkel’s Bonderite C-AK 11010 (was P3-Saxin) is a highly effective general purpose hot spray cleaner for heavily-soiled metals of all types, including aluminium, zinc, and alloys. A silicate-buffered alkaline compound containing polymeric phosphates, it offers good water softening properties and effectively reduces the surface tension of water. It has excellent emulsifying properties and is useful for the removal of old oil and road deposits from engine and gearbox parts before stripping and reconditioning. It is also effective at cleaning process deposits such as lapping pastes, cutting oils, and pressing oils. Bonderite C-AK 11010 is an economical choice, being diluted to just 0.3-3.0% concentration, and is suitable for use on almost all metals including copper, zinc, tin, and aluminium: it can therefore be used to clean multiple different components in the same machine. It contains no free caustic alkali and gives excellent results on polished, ground, or honed surfaces. Mirror-finish aluminium should be treated with lower concentrations of Bonderite C-AK 11010, not over 1%, to avoid any slight dulling of the surface. Contact time is low, generally just 45 seconds to five minutes. The product is supplied in powder form and is cold water soluble, typically applied by a hot spray process at 60-80C. In spray or steam cleaning machines a minimum temperature of 50C is recommended to avoid excessive foaming. |

Henkel’s Bonderite C-AK 305 (was Ridoline 305) is a concentrated liquid etching cleaner for aluminium, steel, hot dip galvanised and electrogalvanised steel surfaces – normally applied in a spray washing plant. It provides good cleaning, low foam, low sludge and minimum scale, making it particularly effective in cleaning aluminium in continuous strip processing, and can be chemically controlled using electronic control equipment. Treatment time can be between 5 to 25 seconds, this will depend upon bath strength, condition of metal, and degree of etch required, together with available processing time. The work should be rinsed in cold water immediately after treatment, and if the work is heavily soiled and extra cleaning power is required, Bonderite C-AD detergent materials may be added to the bath. |

Henkel’s Bonderite C-AK 4215 NC-LT (was Turco 4215 NC-LT) is a white granular mix developed for cleaning ferrous and nonferrous alloys at low temperatures, by spray, immersion and ultrasonic methods. It is ideal for cleaning fuel and hydraulic components as well as cleaning metals prior to metal bonding. (Note: this product is not recommended for use on magnesium alloys). Bonderite C-AK 4215 NC-LT is noncorrosive to aluminum, steel, copper and plated metals; readily soluble in water; nonfoaming at recommended concentrations and temperatures; free of chromate and silicate; readily rinses from metals; free of harsh caustic alkalis. A blend of organic surface-active agents designed to control foaming – a characteristic of Turco 4215 NC-LT at elevated temperatures (above 40 degrees C), one of the surface active agents becomes less soluble, separates and floats to the top of the solution. This is normal, the oily layer that floats to the top is one of the active ingredients and should not be skimmed. Bonderite C-AK 4215 NC-LT is Airbus Approved to CML 11-024. Comprehensive instructions for use with tanks and spray, immersion and ultrasonic systems, as well as surfactant titration are available upon request. All relevant health and safety precautions should be taken – contact with eyes, skin and clothing should be avoided and ventilation (equivalent to an outdoor environment) should be addressed. Bonderite C-AK 507 (was Ridoline 507) is a high-performance non-etching liquid cleaner for the removal of oil from aluminium and aluminium alloys. It provides effective cleaning without damaging the surface of the metal, and can be applied by spray or agitated immersion. The special formulation of Bonderite C-AK 507 minimises the formation of scale on heating surface or tank walls. Bonderite C-AK 507 is typically applied at 4% concentration and at temperatures over 50C, particularly for spray applications where foaming may occur at lower temperatures. Process tanks, pipework, and pumps used in connection with Bonderite C-AK 507 solution may be made of mild steel, but heated surfaces such as plates in heat exchangers should be fabricated of polished 316 stainless steel. The solution is mildly alkaline and contains amines, and so valve seats, pump seals, and other elastomers in contact with the solution should be of an appropriate material such as Viton, Hypalon, or Buna-N. EPDM elastomers are not suitable for exposure to this product. |

Heavy soiling and greasy deposits are thoroughly removed, as are pigmented drawing compounds containing fatty acids. Bonderite C-AK 5800 has a high polymer phosphate content, meaning it can be safely used in hard water areas without risk of creating damaging precipitations. Henkel’s Bonderite C-AK T308 (was P3-T 308) is a white powder, high-performance, high in phosphate, alkaline hot immersion soak cleaning compound, designed to cope with the toughest oil and grease contaminations. It also has excellent particulate removal properties. It is ideally suited for cleaning of steel and cast iron substrates as it does not contain free caustic alkali – it is also suitable for use with sensitive metals, however, preliminary testing is recommended to ensure that unacceptable staining does not occur. Bonderite C-AK T308 has excellent oil emulsifying properties and because of its high polymeric phosphate content it leaves no scale, even when used in the hardest waters. It is used as a soak and agitated immersion cleaner prior to hardening and after oil quenching. As it contains no silicates the danger of soft spots occurring during heat treatment (caused by silicates) is eliminated. It has no detrimental effect on furnace linings, and final rinses are unnecessary when working at concentrations of 0.3 per cent up to a maximum of 1.0 per cent. This solution is also suitable for cleaning and degreasing before phosphating, and a boiling solution of the product will give a clean bright surface to sheet steel, stainless steel and steel wire coated with stearates. |

Henkel’s Bonderite C-IC 100 (was P3-Almeco 100) is a chemical treatment for light alloys, used before painting or resistance welding. It is an acidic cleaner, light blue in colour, designed to remove oxide films from surfaces, leaving them in a condition suitable for painting, and for chromate conversion, etc. For use in immersion processes – following rinsing the parts can be dried by either flash drying (hot water not exceeding 70 degrees C), oven drying at 100 degrees C, or by a compressed air blast for treatment before painting. Drying temperatures should not exceed 70 degrees C if chromate conversion coating is to follow. Some alloys, for instance those having a high copper content will develop a smut on the surface. To remove, treat in a nitric acid solution, and where the smut results from high silicon content add 4% w/w potassium fluoride to the nitric acid. Suitable extraction should be employed on the process tank, as acid spray mists may be generated during processing with Bonderite C-IC 100, this will ensure there is no escape of vapour or spray mist into the working area. Disposal: Bonderite C-IC 100 should not be discharged into the main drainage system without neutralisation to a pH acceptable by your local authority. In addition, rinse waters should also be neutralised if the pH is outside the limits also set by your local authority. Hazards and safe handling should be understood by all personnel handling/using this product, in accordance with current Health and Safety regulations. |

Henkel’s Bonderite C-IC 146 (was Chemalyt 146) is a clear yellowish liquid cleaner for metal surfaces in spray processes – ideal for cleaning and degreasing surfaces with no major metal attack, such as iron, steel, copper, brass and aluminium. Over pickling is inhibited, rust and oxides are dissolved very quickly. Also, there should no problems with subsequent chemical treatments on Bonderite C-IC 146 processed surfaces. Bonderite C-IC 146 is composed of phosphoric acid, non-ionic surfactants and an inhibitor, and is made up by adding to cold water (as per the make up instructions in the product bulletin). Cleaning, depending upon soiling, can take between 1-15 minutes. Slight foaming will result at 30 degrees C (sprayable above 50 degrees C). It is recommended that tank construction be of stainless steel or mild steel coated with rubber or resistant polymer. |

Bonderite C-IC 186 (was Deoxidine 186) is a phosphoric/sulphuric acid based metal cleaner and surface de-ruster for ferrous substrates. It can be used in a spray or immersion system to remove rust, light deposits of mill oil and corrosion initiators. It is optimised for steel surfaces, and can be used under specific conditions on aluminium and zinc (both of which will be lightly etched). This product should not be used on magnesium or yellow metals. Bonderite C-IC 186 can be used to prepare suitable surfaces for the application of a conversion coating, and where production volume is large, a spray application, in place of dipping, is recommended for economy and handling considerations. Work coated with mill oil would normally require no pre-cleaning, however heavy deposits of grease or drawing compounds should be removed prior to Bonderite C-IC 186 treatment. As Bonderite C-IC 186 contains phosphoric acid and sulphuric acid the rule of safe handling of hazardous products should be followed – appropriate protective clothing and footwear should be worn, together with chemical goggles/face shield (meeting BS2092). Good ventilation also applies. |

Bonderite C-IC DS-9-333 will provide a bright finish on 18/8” stainless steel, a reflective surface on 18/5” and martensitic stainless steels, and can be used to descale a wide variety of steels and corrosion-resistant alloys. It is ideal for use as a surface conditioning treatment prior to welding and electroplating. Henkel’s Bonderite C-MC 12 (was P3 Grato 12) is a solvent free, biodegradable, cold cleaner solution, formulated for use in the cold cleaning of vehicle, engine and machinery parts. Bonderite C-MC 12 can be brushed or sprayed on, and be used at any concentration (above 3 per cent), determined by the degree of contamination; it is then left between 2 and 10 minutes to enable the surfactants to penetrate the contamination. Once this is complete the surface can then be cleaned with water with a pressure hose or by brushing and then dried leaving the surface in an inhibited condition for a short time. Oil in the effluent will separate out and can be skimmed off, and the remaining liquid may be discharged into the mains drain. However, the waste should be allowed to stand for 30 minutes, and be diluted to below 2 per cent. |

Henkel’s Bonderite C-NE 400 (was P3-Neutracare 400) is an easy to use liquid neutral cleaner, free of nitrites and phosphates, for use in heated and unheated washing machines. It is suitable for use on steel, cast iron, aluminium and zinc. Bonderite C-NE 400 is low foaming, and can be used at a wide range of temperatures ranging from 20 to 80 degrees C. It is well suited for inter-operational or final cleaning, and is ideal for single stage washing machines as it does not normally require rinsing. In addition, this liquid will leave a protective film, which does not interfere with pre-assembly processes, such as gauging or inspection. With rust-inhibiting properties Bonderite C-NE 400 contains organic rust-preventing compounds for medium term internal storage, without undue staining of the surface, this is superior to conventional neutral cleaners. Added to this, oils and greases are not emulsified and can be skimmed from the surface to extend bath life, and the product is compatible with all current oil separation processes. To minimise heating costs this product is also operable at ambient temperature. With no scaling of equipment maintenance down-time is reduced, and there are savings on additional heating demands. Bonderite C-NE 400 is non-corrosive and non-toxic, but due to its detergency, defatting of the skin may occur. Henkel’s Bonderite L-FM L67 is an effective colourless, virtually odourless, organic lubricating oil for blanking, forming and stamping. Bonderite L-FM L67 (was Magnus L67) will evaporate to dryness in one hour leaving a light stearate soap film, on the metal surface, that is hard to distinguish; further cleaning is normally unnecessary as 90 per cent of the oil vanishes within an hour of exposure to air. It is safe to use on all metals, as it is free of silicone, sulphur and chlorides, and is ideal for blanking forming and light duty stamping of aluminium, galvanised steel, tin coated steel, terneplate, copper, brass and pre-painted steel. It does not stain, and gives a superior die life, compared with standard Magnus Vanishing Oil. It is also recommended for use on metals in contact with food, for example ring pull tab ends, tops, jar lids, bottle caps, etc. (Bonderite L-FM L67 complies with FDA Federal Additives Regulations, 21 CFR, Section 178.3910). Bonderite L-FM L67 can be applied directly to the surface by spray, brush, dip, roller, wipe-on or with felt pads. To avoid cross contamination, previously used lubricants should be cleaned from the surface of the piece. |

Henkel Bonderite M-CR ALCRM1200 Aero (was Alocrom 1200) is available in brush-on and dip varieties and forms a gold-coloured protective coating on aluminium and aluminium alloys. The protective surface created is integral, and so will flex with the metal under load, and provides excellent corrosion resistance for both painted and unpainted finishes. Bonderite M-CR ALCRM1200 Aero Dip formulation requires only a short immersion time – a few minutes at room temperature – to create the protective coating. Bonderite M-CR ALCRM1200 Aero Brush formulation requires no specialist equipment or training and can be applied by brush or swab. Air drying is suitable for either application. Bonderite M-CR ALCRM1200 Aero is a versatile treatment for industrial and electrical components, vehicle parts including body panels, domestic appliances, and aircraft components. It is approved to DEF STAN 03-18 for use in aircraft (Certificate 031801), including specific approval for repairing damaged anodic coatings. It is useful where maximum corrosion resistance is required. The Bonderite M-CR ALCRM1200 Aero process can be applied to aluminium and aluminium alloys including high silicon pressure die-castings. It is not affected by steel, brass or copper inserts and can be used for treating zinc and aluminium in the same bath. It should not be used for decorative effects on unpainted alloys exosed to exterior weathering, since some colour change may occur. Bonderite M-CR ALCRM1200 Aero BR is supplied as two liquids – Parts A and B – which are mixed together before application. Detailed advice on appropriate handling and storage is provided on the product data sheets. These products were previously sold in the UK under the Alocrom brand name, and were known in other territories under the Alodine name: Alocrom 1200 and Alodine 1200 are identical products. Henkel’s Bonderite M-CR ALCRM1200BR (was Brush Alocrom 1200) offers excellent corrosion resistance on both painted and unpainted aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces – it requires no expensive dedicated equipment, it has been formulated to give an even coating when applied by brush or swab. Bonderite M-CR ALCRM1200BR is a rapid process, quickly forming a protective gold coloured conversion coating, it will withstand bending and deformation of the surface, and provides an excellent base for paint. It has been designed for treating work which is too large for normal dip or spray washing plant treatment, or for use where production does not justify the installation of expensive equipment. It is also used as a forming treatment over aged anodised or Alocrom treated surfaces prior to painting, as specified in DTD 902E, as well as for touching up damaged areas on such coatings. Henkel’s Bonderite M-ED 11001 (was Almeco Seal SLT) is a liquid concentrate which prevents the formation of unsightly smut, during the sealing of anodised aluminium, without adverse effects on quality tests – simply by adding to hot water seal tanks. Bonderite M-ED 11001 has been formulated to adjust the pH of the sealing solution to approximately 5.8 during the first few days of operation. The pH should be monitored regularly, especially in hard water areas, and adjusted accordingly in the range of 5.5 – 6.5. Although the solution is buffered, it is recommended that it is checked regularly, and adjusted when required with ammonia or acetic acid. Adequate and thorough rinsing of parts prior to the sealing bath will help to ensure the range is maintained. (pH adjustments should not be made with caustic or sulphuric acid). Providing the water does not contain an excess of sealing poisons (phosphates, silicates or fluorides), Bonderite M-ED 11001 can be used in tap water of low hardness. Otherwise, deionised water or softened water should be used. Tanks should be constructed from stainless steel or other acid and heat resistant materials. Natural and colour anodised parts can be sealed free from smut. |

Bonderite M-FE 687 (was Novaphos F687) imparts a corrosion-resistant coating which greatly improves paint adhesion onto surfaces of iron, steel, aluminium, or zinc components. A formulated iron phosphate solution, it includes a fluoride element within the matrix to permit the phosphating of mixed metals. Bonderite M-FE 687 is supplied as a heavy colourless liquid for spray application. It may be applied in multistage spray wash or spray tunnel systems and will tolerate light soiling on the part being treated. On its own Bonderite M-FE 687 will clean and phosphate in one operation, while the addition of a Bonderite C-AD detergent will significantly enhance the cleaning action. Bonderite M-FE 687 is supplied in highly concentrated form and is typically diluted at the rate of seven litres per 1000 litres, or 0.7% by volume. It may be applied at a range of temperatures from 30-60C at moderate pressure of 1.5-2.0 bar. Contact time is just 1.5-3.0 minutes, to leave a clean phosphated surface offering good corrosion protection and excellent paint adherence. Bonderite M-FE 687 is classified as non-hazardous and conforms to BS3189 Type 4 and DEF STAN 03-11 Class IV specifications. |

Henkel’s Bonderite M-MN 101 (was Granodine 101) is a non-accelerated hot dip process, providing a low cost, maximum protection maganese-iron phosphate coating on iron or steel. It is recommended for castings, tools, nuts, bolts and service equipment – particularly those items which cannot be easily painted. Bonderite M-MN 101 is an effective foundation for oils, stains or matt paints, preventing rust creep under the protective film should the surface become damaged – it is also ideal for protecting from wear on moving surfaces (however, where an accelerated process is allowable, Bonderite M-MN 111 is recommended as an alternative). Phosphate coating/treatment time with Bonderite M-MN 101 will vary between 15 and 40 minutes, depending upon the surface condition of the item being treated, and the pre-cleaning method used. If treating for wear prevention a stronger bath, and shorter immersion time may be required. Bonderite M-MN 101 is approved to DEF 29-A as a Class 1, non-accelerated process, and meets BS3189: type 1A Heavyweight. |

Bonderite M-MN 111 (was Granodine 111) generates a heavy manganese-iron phosphate coating on ferrous metals to create improve wear resistance and maintain lubrication. The inert crystalline phosphate coating formed by the Bonderite M-MN 111 process is useful in reducing wear on moving parts such as piston rings, camshafts, especially during running-in. Bonderite M-MN 111 eliminates metal to metal contact and holds lubricants between moving parts, and the minor initial roughness of the surface is quickly polished smooth. As a direct result of its action, wear and tear is reduced, seizure may be prevented, fretting corrosion eliminated, and component life greatly increased. In addition to moving parts, Bonderite M-MN 111 is suitable for use on castings, tools, fasteners, and other components which can be stained and oiled but not easily painted. Bonderite M-MN 111 is applied by a straightforward accelerated hot-dip process controlled by simple tests demanding no specialist knowledge. Immersion time is 5-20 minutes in a bath of 3-10% Bonderite M-MN 111 at 95-100C. Components are first chemically cleaned or degreased, rinsed, and then immersed in the Bonderite M-MN 111 bath. Further rinsing with water and a final Bonderite M-PT type rinse is followed by drying and sealing. The Bonderite M-PT type rinse imparts increased corrosion resistance to the finished product. The outstanding protection created by the Bonderite M-MN 111 process will often last the lifetime of the component. As well as providing an excellent substrate for oiling, staining, and some paints, it prevents rust creep beneath the surface in the event of the film becoming damaged. |

Henkel’s Bonderite M-NT 161 (was Alodine 161) is a rapid process to create a conversion coating on the surface of light metals to provide enhanced corrosion protection and improved paint adhesion. The passivating coating created is formed in seconds and has an attractive yellowish or straw colour. Bonderite M-NT 161 is a chrome-free passivation process for aluminium, magnesium, and their alloys. The product is supplied in liquid form and diluted with deionised water. Metal components are then simply dipped into the solution and the conversion process begins automatically. The dip bath is maintained at moderate temperature – 15-30C – and the conversion time is just 15-180 seconds. The Bonderite M-NT 161 process complies with the recent European Union (EU) WEEE and RoHS directives. The coating does not affect the electrical conductivity of the parent metal and provides an excellent key for paint or other organic coating. |

Henkel’s Bonderite M-NT 4850-2 (was Alodine 4850-2) is a liquid concentrate that produces a chrome-free conversion treatment on light metals. It can also be used as a chromium free post-passivation on phosphated surfaces. Bonderite M-NT 4850-2 provides, in aqueous solutions, colourless conversion layers on light metals in immersion and spray applications. Both treatments provide an excellent corrosion resistance, as well as excellent adhesion properties for subsequent painting. Bath maintenance is controlled by determining the pH value and electrolytic conductivity. The conductivity should be kept constant during operation, and it should be noted that iron ions in the passivation bath can impair the conversion layer quality, so the maximum iron concentration should not rise above 10ppm. (Bath construction should be of fluoride resistant plastic such as hard PVC or PP, with racks of aluminium, stainless steel or hard PVC). Bonderite M-NT 4850-2 baths must be treated to remove metal ions and neutralised before adding to normal waste water. |

Bonderite M-ZN 450 R (was Novaphos Z450) converts iron and steel surfaces to a heavy zinc phosphate coating, which inhibits corrosion and greatly enhances the adhesion of paint. The solution is applied by immersion and leaves behind an absorptive coating which is stable to subsequent treatment with protective fluids. Bonderite M-ZN 450 R is supplied as a heavy liquid with a faint green colour. Diluted to just 0.4% (40 litres per 1000) and applied at 80-90C for 5-15 minutes, it imparts a durable zinc phosphated surface to ferrous metals. For effective phosphating, the surfaces being treated should be cleaned and thoroughly rinsed before application of the Bonderite M-ZN 450 R. After treatment, the work should be thoroughly rinsed with water, preferably hot water, and immediately dried. The resulting phosphated surface offers high corrosion resistance and acts as a key for subsequent paint finishes, giving improved adhesion and durability of the paint. |

Bonderite O-PC 100 (was Suncorite Aqua 100 Black) is a water-based coating giving exceptional corrosion protection. It will provide protection of 500 – 1,000 hours ASTM B117 salt spray when applied at 50-70 microns over zinc phosphate pre-treated metal, or over shot-blasted steel substrates. This high performance anti-corrosive coating is based on a copolymer of vinyl acrylic and polyvinylidene chloride, with a combination of carbon black pigment, fillers and an anti-corrosive pigment. It is also lead-free, free of toxic chromate anti-corrosive pigments, and using Bonderite O-PC 100 avoids the hazard of fire and exposure to harmful solvents. Especially suited to the requirements of the motor industry, this product meets the highest automotive corrosions tests, for components which cannot withstand the baking processes of powder or electrophoretic coating. Henkel Bonderite O-PC 1090 (was Kephos 1090 Black) is a one operation non aqueous pretreatment and organic coating dip, providing corrosion resistance for items such as car accessories, sheet metal components, brackets, castings, tubular cooling units and domestic appliance back panels, etc. Bonderite O-PC 1090 produces a phosphate coating and black finish in just one process. Its provides excellent corrosion resistance for its film build, with protection being equivalent to that provided by a light weight phosphate coating plus a one-coat finish – it is more effective than most one-coat finishes on unphosphated steel and the finish is similar in appearance to that of a single coat of low gloss dip paint. Bonderite O-PC 1090 is best applied by dip, but can be brushed or sprayed. The process takes up less room than conventional separate phosphating and painting operations and delivers faster processing (forced dried for best results for 10-15 minutes. Henkel’s Bonderite O-PC 253 (was Kephos 253) is a non-aqueous phosphating treatment for iron and steel surfaces, which simultaneously protects and seals the surface to protect against corrosion and enhance paint adhesion. Because it is non-aqueous, Bonderite O-PC 253 leaves no water residue behind which might cause subsequent paint blistering. Bonderite O-PC 253 provides an economical method of applying such high protection, and can be sprayed in a standard painting booth or dipped in a conventional tank. It works well with a conventional spray gun but also lends itself to electrostatic spray, roller- or brush-coat, cold dip, or wiping. It is applied at ambient temperature and leaves no effluent. Typical applications for Bonderite O-PC 253 are the phosphating of bodywork panels, cycle frames, car accessories, machinery casings including meter boxes and domestic white goods, and sheet steel. Spray application makes this a good choice for large items that are difficult to immerse. Most commonly applied to iron and steel, successful results are also obtained with electroplated zinc or galvanised items, and brass. The phosphated coating is quite flexible, allowing sheet materials to be worked up into, for example, box sections after being treated. Air drying is usually sufficient (3-5 minutes for spray or brush, up to 30 minutes for dip application) although force drying for five minutes at 95C is also permitted. Treated items can be painted immediately or stored temporarily, where they will enjoy the corrosion protection created by Bonderite O-PC 253. |

Henkel’s Bonderite O-PC 528 BLACK (was Suncorite 528RFU) is a high performance, chromate free, self phosphating, protective treatment and coating for metal of any surface profile. It has outstanding resistance to corrosion, such as salt spray and humidity, battery acids, fuel oils, solvents and brake fluids. Henkel Bonderite O-PC 528 BLACK RFU is the “ready for use” formulation of this all in one process, providing a coating with outstanding adhesion and corrosion resistance due to its special blend of anti-corrosive pigments. It can be easily spray applied without complete pretreatment or energy consuming baking processes. Automotive component manufacturers are using Bonderite O-PC 528 BLACK RFU for the coating of engine mountings, springs, brake components, metal pressing and almost all underbody components. A single 35 micron coating will provide 240 hours ASTM B117 hot salt spray resistance on suitably cleaned mild steel panels, meeting some of the strictest automotive specifications laid down. Work to be treated with Bonderite O-PC 528 BLACK RFU should be free of scale, rust, grease or oil. The coating touch dries at room temperature in around 40 minutes – force drying will accelerate the through hardening. |

Emerald Deruster PH7 is an aqueous neutral solution designed to be used as a soak immersion to remove all of the rust from steel and iron. The product is used at full strength with soak times of as quick as 15 minutes to 24 hours in extreme cases at room temperature. Faster effectiveness may be achieved through heating. Since Emerald Deruster PH7 is neutral no special equipment is required although safety glasses and gloves should be worn. The product can be used over and over until it stops working. On average, 1 litre will de-rust up to 50kg of lightly rusted steel. Emerald Deruster PH7 is non-hazardous, contains no VOCs, runs at pH 6.5-7, is biodegradable and, most important, will not cause hydrogen embrittlement on high tensile steel components. This is a major benefit over traditional acidic de-rusting products. Emerald Deruster PH7 is used at temperatures from ambient up to 80°C undiluted. No special equipment is required. |

Mykal’s De.Solv.It DSI 1000 High Performance Degreaser is a safe solvent degreaser for plant, equipment and component cleaning, formulated as an alternative to Trike, White Spirits and Paraffin. Compatible with most metals, plastics, rubbers and polymers, DSI 1000 will remove heavy contamination such as oils, greases, bitumen, wet paints, adhesives and sealants. It is a DEFRA approved Surface Cleaner Oil Dispersant for oil spill clean up operations. Suitable for the cleaning and tackifying of rubbers, it also has a high di-electric strength so can be used safely on electrical circuits. It is also compatible with all metals and most plastics. DSI 1000 contains no ozone depleting chlorinated solvents and its low vapour pressure means less product is lost to atmosphere than other traditional solvents. DSI 1000 is designed for use neat in manual cold cleaning processes such as parts washing and dip cleaning, hand swabbing and degreasing, surface preparation and electrical cleaning. Case study: De.Solv.It DSI 1000 High Performance Degreaser has been specified by a leading Lift and Escalator manufacturer as the product for use in their essential maintenance and service procedure. The company not only install lifts and escalators in stations, airports and hotels but also has a team of engineers to carry out regular servicing. These engineers traditionally used white spirit to degrease the lift guide rails during routine maintenance in very confined areas. However, they had several instances of engineers suffering ill effects from the white spirit vapours, such as dizziness and nausea. Trials were carried out with DSI 1000 and these proved very successful in degreasing the guide rails whilst eliminating the unhealthy side effects. The company now regularly purchases the Mykal High Performance Degreaser to be carried in their service vans. |

Hubbard-Hall’s Metal Guard 350 is a thin film emulsion rust preventative, designed to give effective corrosion protection and lubricity to blackened, phosphated, and bare metal surfaces. With typical applications being at final coat: after black oxide, zinc or manganese phosphate, or on bare steel. Metal Guard 350 solution is an opaque tan, low odour, water emulsion, which can also be diluted for special applications. It leaves an extremely thin waxy film, which will air dry in a short time. For faster drying, warm air or heated spin dryer methods are recommended. If at any time parts require reprocessing, the coating is easily removed with alkaline cleaner, or a vapour degreaser. |

Hubbard-Hall’s Metal Guard 450 is a water-displacing solvent rust preventative for aluminium, steel, stainless steel or copper alloy substrates. This low odour, transparent amber solution, is non-viscous, and can be applied by spray, immersion, brushing or flood coating. Metal Guard 450 is used as delivered, and has been formulated to leave a dry-to-touch finish on coated substrates. It is recommended as a final dip on black oxide and phosphate finishes, however, it also offers effective protection against rust and corrosion on automobile parts and accessories, sewing machines, firearms, all types of fasteners, small gasoline engines, machine tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and metal stampings. This product meets MIL Spec MIL-C-16173D Grade 3 and MIL-C-22235A. |

Hubbard-Hall’s Metal Guard 678 is a clear resin coating rust preventative, which has been formulated to give effective protection to a wide range of metal surfaces, where additional durability and protection are required, especially on lightly oiled metal surfaces. It provides a high-gloss and dry hard film with excellent humidity resistance. It gives performance similar to that of solvent-based coatings, but without the fire hazard. Metal Guard 678 can also be used for exterior applications, giving protection against rust for 3 to 6 months depending upon conditions, and it is suitable for preventing white rust on galvanised parts. An emulsion of milky appearance, the solution can be diluted with tap water to give, if required, a thinner less durable film and it can be applied by immersion or brush painting. Touch-dry time is around 10 minutes, at 24C/45% humidity – forced ambient air and/or dilution will reduce this time. Metal Guard 678 is ideal for masking those steel parts which will be black oxide coated, it will prevent the blackening of masked areas where hot alkaline black oxide solutions, or acidic room temperature solutions are applied. |
